Aquired through family , no knowladge of it .. I have looked on numerous websites and found nothing remotely similur also i have tried looking for the symbol on the bottom , to no avail ... I actually ran out of variations on how to search- symbol in a triangle old metal, company symbol diamond etc ,,, so on so forth ...

Can you take a clearer picture of the mark?  It could be WMF but I can't tell for sure.  GG

Could be looking at the mark wrong !! If you turn it upright,, it is a stylized fish,,fin would be on the left,, looks like a marlin or similar type, has a long nose,, the letter loops around it !! First looked like an S but could also be U.S. if you follow the line !!

There's a Japanese / Chinese look to this and the lozenge mark is often a retailer or merchants logo.

Tilted the other way, it looks like a dolphin leaping through the letter / symbol for omega
