Title: Did companies number clay flower pots?
Post by: Peaceman on May 10, 2013, 12:29:33 PM
I've looked forever for info on this pot and can't find anything.  The bottom is hard to read as well.  I believe it says "PANE X LLO"  It is numbered 262 but not as numbering should be, like 262/500.  Am I looking at something from Target lol or is this just "decoritive art".  Bought it at a garage sale... Thanks for the help.

Most commercial potteries number by style !!  When they make many pots a number is assigned for that particular size and style !! So if a department store or retailer places an order they know that that number is an 8 inch pot in that style and color !! A 10 inch pot would be a different number !! Makes it easier to place orders !!

Sure looks like Mexico to me. Definitely a very modern piece.
