Title: Beautiful Door Pulls?? What are they, what are they worth?
Post by: tyedye lady on May 19, 2013, 06:33:54 PM
We have this beautiful set of door pulls (?)  We believe they are either brass or possibly gold plated?  They are 22 1/2 inches long.  Made in Spain. (marked)  We are trying to find out some more information and possible value.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

They are brass !!  Wrong color for gold plating !! Pretty modern !!  Generally when something says "Made in" There were many made and some were sold outside of the country of origin !!

They are not marked "Made in"  there is a stamp on the back of the mounting plate "Spain"

And if they were modern how can we not find anything on the internet that matches.  We know the folks that had these did travel to italy and spain shoping for items for their "castle house" here in town.

here,s a similar design, albeit, these are drawer pulls, but they may give you an indication as to what value your door pulls have....but bare in mind, they are only worth what someone is prepared to pay...my personal opinion is they are only worth around...£40/50 the pair

I agree with Mart - they are not as old as you think.

Look at the screws, the wear, the way the metal has been shaped.
Also " Spain ". Implies made recently as Spain will have been used for the export market
I would not expect an antique pair to be marked like that, certainly not in English.
