Well!! all old Salt boxes had to be new in the begining.... ;D.

should have included the size
its rather large
10 inchess across by 9 inches tall--not including the back part that is decorative on top
I have been looking at salt boxes I think that may be right

This is very cute! The screws fastening the hinges are Phillips head, so if they are original to the box, that would make it after the 1930s. Are there any other pieces of hardware such as nails or any markings on the bottom or inside?
