I know it's not really old due to the "made in England" marking.
I have looked through hundreds of google images and can't seem to find a matching pattern. It is gold trim.
Anybody know he pattern and a value? I have roughly 10-12 plates

Sorry about he double post...will try to delete he other

Don,t let the Made in England fool you,..into thinking these plates have no age....Wedgwood started using this in 1898...but more generally in 1908...therefore there is a good indication that this plate could be at least a 100 years old,or more...see link to date chart...and explanation of date letters..and numbers,

That's what I figured Bigwull. But I read somewhere that 100 yrs old isn't very old when discussing Wedgwood China.
I just wish I could figure what this pattern was. The numbers on he back are w4042

Some of the 1920's items are worth far more than some mid 19th - age is no guideline.
I like this - scarce, quite attractive and the one shown is in good condition
You need to e-mail the museum as the pattern is unfamiliar to me

As the Ip man says, age does,nt always equate to $$$...I,ve seen 2000year old pots fetch less than something made 100 years ago,...i,ve seen 2 Worcester milk jugs .that if you saw them lying in a bin...you,d probably leave them there.as they were cracked and chipped and had black firing marks on them.yet they fetched over £47,000....So don,t be taken in by how old or young something is...its all about demand...

Email has been sent to their museum. Anxious to here thei reply.

Please let us know what the Wedgwood Museum says.
I e-mailed them with a question re: a pre-1860 Wedgwood biscuit barrel (twice) and they never got back to me.

You should get a response Packman but if not, put " unknown pattern " in the subject heading.
-
Here is the response I got from Wedgwood.
"I can tell you that it dates from c.1945 and is described as follows:
Pattern number 4042, Powder ruby all over with full Chinese print in gold, gold edge and lines, edge burnished rest sanded."
As far as value, they said to check with auction houses etc.
Any ideas?

response seems self explanatory to me.....

You have 12 plates in excellent condition ?
I'd say £100-150 with a discretionary reserve. Scarce pattern and there are vases and bowls with gilt and red / ruby chinese patterns ( though not the same as yours ) so potential that some collectors would be interested in similar plates.
I've seen some which i consider less attractive to fetch a similar price.

Yes excellent condition.
So roughly $10-$12 per plate?
Thanks again for all of you help.
Sorry...I meant 12-18 $ per plate

You might get more in the States looking at auction results over there.
