I am wondering how much this would be worth. It is from the 1940's, it's lost a bit of paint but still has its original wiring, works great. Any value at all?
Thanks
Kevin

Thanks for the links, the antique dealer I bought it from told me it was from the 40s.

If you can,t see that wiring....then you do indeed need to get your eyes tested,...its got the old style wiring...2 separate strands
-
Same wiring as the old flame bulb tree light strings. Cloth covered. Great piece of vintage Christmas. It could be late 40s but it looks 50s to me.

looks like 18 oatcake wiring....but i suppose its ok for the US where the voltage is half of what we have....over here that wiring would disintegrate...+ we have more amperes...thats what kills you..not the volts,
-
I would replace that cord before I plugged it in for use. A good extension cord with the end cut off would suffice and it wouldn't hurt the value.
-
The higher the voltage the lower the amps. That why an old car distributor cap can knock you on your butt at only twelve volts. The formula is Amps = Watts / Volts ex. 100 watts @ 120 volts is 1.09 amps. At 240 volts it is .545 amps.
-
That is so cute! I hope you got a good deal for it!

"It's Volts that Jolts, but it's mils that kills!".
A simple guide to remembering

I paid about $10-$15 for it, but I got it in a bundle of things so I'm not sure what I really paid for it. It's a great decoration though, I'd like to use it if it will work with our tree.

Wait till a month or so before Christmas and put it on Ebay,, you might be surprised at what it brings !! If you decide to sell it !! I would keep it !!

I think it is 40`s !! Not sure but they outlawed that type wire prior to 50`s I think !! Caused too many fires !!
-
Ebay is too confusing for me :D
-
Its really easy if you stay away from their speed listing and add ons !! Just a simple listing and a couple of good pics !! And do not tie paypal into your main bank account !! Most everyone has a separate paypal account at their bank !! Then they can transfer what ever money they need into personal account !!
