We have auction houses that have events just such as this on a regular basis. Garage sale stuff, vintage "collectibles," low level antiques missing pieces, etc. That blanket chest looks like it would fit right in.

I expected to see several grin smilies after that last remark.

Is that Wild Bill Hickock on the right? Buffalo Bill?

Squiggles RULE! Actually, i could not see the squiggles from the pics before i bought the chest and was very surprised to see them as they were unloading it here last week. I just wish someone knew how they came about in painted pieces from the second half 17th century pieces. Ditto wedged dovetails, i just cant believe they ran out of glue or no glue was available as some have suggested.

In looking at the chest above, i'd say squiggles would absolutely help that decoration, they certainly couldn't hurt. :)

Squiggles rule..My Arse...the reason yours has been covered in those God awful squiggles was probably to hide that crappy "whitewood",and equally shitty workmanship...where as this one has that beautiful grain...and rich colour...... ;D ;D ;D
