Hi All,
I have an old snuff box in the shape of a shoe, not 100% what its made of but its light and looks like brass (but I dont think it is brass).
I cant see any special markings on it.
Not exactly the best condition either as you will see from the pics.
Just wondered is there any advice anyone can give me as to how to work out what the value could be, what its made of and how old it is?
Thanks
Andy

with that amount of verdigris...its definitly brass,...it may have been silver plated at some point , but its been rubbed off...looks of Indian origin....that,s the India east of Africa..had it been silver then value would have been £100+..but as it is..i,d have to say...perhaps £20...

Would like to see a pic of the underside/sole of the shoe please.
Looks like it has always been brass! Could be a reproduction piece!

Hi All,
Thanks so much for your replies,
The reason I didn't think it was brass is because it is much lighter than I thought brass would be, my mom thinks it could be sprayed with gold stain or paint and definitely not a reproduction???
I will try to get a couple more pics on of the underside
Thanks
Andy

I don,t think its a "repo"..but..from the pics,it looks like verdigris on the metal, which would indicate that it is made of a non ferrous metal,
