My Mother had this hanging in the "rose room" at her bed & breakfast. She says it was my Grandmothers.
Its small [approx. 6 x 6] but over an inch thick. [and heavy for its size]
No markings.

Is anything on top of the miniature painting ?? Or is the oval piece attached to a backing ??

Looks to be what is called a portrait Cameo. From photos does appear to be Limoges , Get a hands on if you can :D

I thought so Wendy Thanks! And I read that some early Limoges went unmarked, just been soooo curious!
It's been in my possession for over 15 years.
Mart ~ The portrait is covered by a bubble of glass and fixed in the center of the velvet fabric.
It has one small chip on the bottom left hand corner, other than that its just filthy.
