My brother bought a foreclosed and the original owner left behind many unique items. Among them was a 4 pc set of Karpen Woven Fibre Furniture. The set includes two chairs, an ottoman and a tall side table (which I do not have here). All the pieces have the Karpen tag on them. My brother wants to throw them out. My sister-in-law wants me to reupholster them so they can put them outside at their cottage. I have been researching them and believe they may be worth something. I would like to encourage them to sell the set to someone who would truly appreciate them. If anyone would give me information on them, including what the set may be worth, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

Nice!!
Karpen was one of the big names in furniture manufacturing beginning in the 1880s and extending well into the 20th century.
This set has a great Deco look. If it were mine I'd keep it on a screened in porch where it can be at least semi-protected. Karpen is quality goods! ;D
Can't help on value but take good care of this set!

I would not reupholster if the original is good !! Looks late 30`s or early 40`s !! I would agree with you but need more info on condition, your area, ect to guess a value !! No big money but,,,!!!

Thank you for you input.
They are in good condition for being that old. Some of the woven fiber and banding is missing along the bottom. The fabric is in decent shape, just a little dirty with a small hole here and there. We would probably go over them with an upholstery cleaner. Structurally, they are solid and the springs are all intact. The cushions sit well. If I were to sell them, I would list them on eBay and ship them via Greyhound.

Give it a shot !! I can`t see you have anything to lose on the deal !! Come back and let us know how it sells !!
Good Luck !!

I think you could definitely sell. I would try craigslist and get them to pick them up. Please be careful though of scams. You want a local person. I don't think you should have a problem. The price could be tricky. Let's get more input.

Thank you for all your advice. My sister-in-law really wanted to keep them. So, reupholster them; I did. Thought you'd like to see the finished project.

Its really a great job done!!
But don't you think is it looking like a dull color than the previous one??
I think its being refurbished as per the porch color that you previously depicted about it!!
But if I would have those then I would keep them in my living room that with the same colored paint inside the living room.
