I've got a couple Merry wanderers and Goose girls, A little flat black paint and I could have the same new look on my shelf for free ;)

Good lord!! $640 for the Merry Wanderer in black?? Sorry, but that just doesn't float my boat :P Price aside, it's the color and detail that attract me.
My kicker was finding a Beswick pheasant at my little hole in the wall here. Picked it up every time I dropped in and for some reason just kept putting it back.....even though I really loved it. Well I should have grabbed it the first time I had my hands on it. They keep the 'better stuff' in a china cabinet behind doors, so if you want a good look over you have to pull things out. It got pulled out once too often and someone whacked the tail end on the fixed center window and broke it off. A staff member glued it back together and they were just putting it back in when I was there. Took him home that day because I just couldn't see anything more happening to him. Wasn't till I got home and looked him up that I realized he would have brought a few more $ (not $$$ ;) ) if he'd been in the original condition I'd first found him in.
Wullie, for me it's the personal appeal.....though the checking if often fun and satisfying (or the opposite). I've had pieces pass through my hands that I could have kicked myself for (Roseville and others) dollar wise.........but aside from the monetary value they didn't touch my sense of appreciation. A shame really as I know they were bought specifically and treasured for what they meant.....just not for me.
Here's my feathered friend.........flaw and all I absolutely love him.

You can buy that Merry Wanderer for a couple of hundred Euros online. $640 is a joke.
