Title: Large Brown Enamel Kettle, Germany
Post by: aDawn on June 10, 2013, 09:25:59 AM
Good morning everyone :) I've been lurking around the forums this morning and decided I would post about an item that I've been meaning to ask you all about for some time.

My mystery item today is a rather large brown enamelware kettle with a wooden handled bail. It stands 12 inches tall, with a diameter at the bottom of 10 inches, and an 8 inch opening on top. Stamped on the bottom is a lion reared up with his front paws resting on a large kettle over the word Germany and, I believe, the number 714. We currently have it for sale in our shop on Etsy, and when you search I'm sure you will see that listing. But I can't find any info on the stamp and I would like to date it and get a little knowledge about it. My mother currently has it priced at $65.00 being as we've sold 3 plain, unmarked, white kettles for $50.00.

As always thank you very much for your time and input!

Well that mark suggests to me it's post 1990 but the handle looks older.

It's a bit more brown in person, Mart.

Thanks all. Were you guys able to find that stamp then?
