Title: Small silver box?
Post by: cmlindb on June 20, 2013, 01:15:50 PM: I got this little box in a huge auction estate lot. The Top says "ILPS" "gegent" "ICF" "1674" and on the sides it has "*" stamped on the lid and bottom piece. Can anyone tell me a little more. I found a couple things but maybe with a little help I can figure out if I have something special or just cool

Here's the description of the one for big money. Sounds like the same box.

Wonderful antique sterling silver box. It has is floral shaped and has a very old dated decorated lid. It has what looks like and English or French royal crest "ILPS Genant, 1674".
It is marked on top and bottom with * mark. It is silver.
Gilt interior.
Approx 1 3/4" diameter, 5/8" high.
Great condition Fantastic design.
It weights 25.6 grams. Truely a wonderful piece.

I messaged him to see if he could do me a fav and contact the buyer to see if they knew more about it. I also saw the higher priced posting, the museum posting, and an other but some had no pictures just spot on description...

But looked up the meaning of genant and it means "embarrassing" !! Doesn't really fit but may have a secondary or common meaning that wasn`t listed !! Just google "Dutch ILPS" and there is info but my computer is so slow I didn`t wait on it !!

but getting back to WWZ...this is not a film...for...G,Acre.....once you,ve seen it you,ll understand why.....
