Title: Why Chas. Dickens (sorry this got posted twice)

Hello,
Why is the name "Chas. Dickens" used on the cover of my A Child's History of England,
and Charles Dickens used on the title page? Also, there is no copyright or publishing date.
The publisher is M.A. Donohue, Chicago.

Chas. Dickens is probably an abbreviation for Charles Dickens.  It is definitely the same author noted, both on the title page and the cover, but it was probably abbreviated for conserving the same font, and not running off the edge of the cover.
