Can anyone help me appraise these?
Mahogany Standard King, Canopy Bed Frame
Set of four Hitchcock Chairs

We will need a lot more info and better pictures. What I see so far looks like Ethan Allen Furniture. Where did they come from? They have been making these since the early 1800's until today.
-
They were given to me and are anywhere from 40 to 60 years old. I don't have anyway to narrow it down beyond that. Is there a mark or stamp I should look for? Any idea where I would look for something like that?

The bed is a pretty common mid century style,,50 ish through early 60`s !! Tell City, Ethan Allen, and many others made same or similar style !! Rarely is furniture marked with the Mfrs. name !! Usually you can find a style number on the back of the headboard !! Just looking at the top and seat of the chairs doesn`t tell much !! Need a good shot of the entire chair !!

I'll get some better shots of both this evening and re-post. Thanks for the feedback!

Mine aren't in nearly that good of condition. The rush on two of them need repaired and the support rod on one is broken (but I have the broken piece).
-
Wullie there is a huge difference in signed Hitchcock chairs and reproductions from the 60`s !!
-
as of this moment in time....no one has said they are repo,s....even if 2 of them are boogered..and t,other 2 are in fine fettle..then from what i,ve seen, they are worth a fair bit.....personally. ...i,d be chopping up the bed ends for firewood....
-
One of them has a stenciled name on the back side...is that legit?
-
this is what the stencil should look like....i,ve got a feeling that...yours might not be....its that authentic bit thats putting me off....
-
Its legit as far as your chair goes but it isn`t an original Hitchcock chair !! Its still a reproduction !! Just looked on ebay and there are a bunch of these chairs listed by same maker in excellent condition,,!! Asking prices are anywhere from $1.04 to a grand or so for sets !! Only one being bid on is a rocker and it is the $1.04 !!
To give a value on anything is essentially useless unless its for insurance purposes !! An item is only worth what the buying public is willing to pay and that isn`t always very much !!
-
i have the perfect answer.....chop,chop,...... ;D
-
I would repair as much as possible but fair selling price today would be around $50. per chair !! Trends in buying change daily !! Even the real signed Hitchcock chairs are not moving much with todays market !!

Those chairs are very nice Jacon4 but didn`t see anything about the much later repro`s !!

Well, I think Hitchcock went back into production and lasted till 2006. That site has the largest Hitchcock collection for sale and also much info on how to tell the age range/ price range on different eras of production.
This guys site appears to be down, i dont see the links on side of page that offer info, heres a youtube video of his shop.
