Title: Dinning room table ?
Post by: Stevegriz on July 06, 2013, 07:23:16 AM
I have this set that was handed down over several times, I think the set is Duncan Phyfe style but the table is a different design than any I can find on the web. Anyone have any info on this table. I was told it was a parlor set?

Thanks

I thought the most distinguishing part was the legs and side. What would be a better angle?

an over all picture would  help....and i do know that a certain member will want to see its "bottom".. :D.underside to everyone else....dimensions will help, and method in which the legs are attached,..from what little can see it looks like it mahogany....if this was a D.P...then it could be high value....have you checked for any marks....?

A good close pic of the buffet/sideboard will help !! Looks more Sheraton/Hepplewhite style but need a close up and one of the dovetails on the drawer !!

It's got Sheraton legs but most likely not Duncan Phyfe. Phyfe did not sign his work & was rather hard headed about it too.

Here are some more pictures. I am looking for any info about what style or manufacture, age and any possible worth. We are going to sell at least the table and possible the whole set.

I agree Jacon4,, and from what I see on the underside of that table,, later made !! It is a beautiful set though !! Do you still have that drawer pull that is missing ??   Would still like to see the dovetails on the drawer sides !!

As I have not seen anything like this before, what would be a reasonable price to ask for the table and chairs only and for the whole set? Just don't know of this is a less than or more than $1000.

Thanks

Yes it is,, Thanks !!  Still think this is a later made set !!  I would not split the set !!  You could look a long time to find a set like this all in one spot !! Do you still have that pull that is missing ??  How many chairs ??

No, not period but still, very nice matched flame mahogany veneers. Price? i have no clue as to value of a well constructed Sheraton revival dining set.

We have 4 regular chairs and 1 arm chair. Several years back my wife reupholstered the chairs. They had straw in them. I have the missing drawer pull but it is broken in half.

We are located in the Atlanta area.

Straw or excelsior ??  Looks like fine thin strings of straw in long strands ?? But more stiff ??

She said it looked more like hay. Not hard or stiff.
