Hi All
Found this set of 3 reticulated bowls with celadon glaze, I believe have some age esp as iron ore is coming out on edge of smaller and medium 1, biggest is about 8 inch wide 2 tall, featuring deer's and birds in forest scene in transfer blue
I think Chinese but cannot find these anywhere
anyone know what they are etc ?
Cheers

What do you mean Iron Ore ??
-
That confused me also ...... but then I seen the "rust" looking stains on the bottom rim and assumed that's what he/she meant..
-
Would be just a stain !! Cream pottery clay would not have iron ore in it !!
-
could be ironstone pottery....
-
Well, aren't you a hoot Wullie.
Agree with Mart about the stain.
You see these most often being a reticulated berry bowl or fruit bowl.
Can't believe it is Chinese, Asian, etc...just because of the decoration. Even American pottery companies made what would appear as "Asian" art on pieces if it was popular and would sell! :)

The animal in the center does not appear to be a deer,, or is it just the pic but it looks like it is using its front feet more like a kangaroo ???

its just the pic..Dear Mart...pardon the pun......"this is a Kangaroo"" ;D ;D

So Wullie, if that is so...are those giant mosquitoes with the bird in the air? LOLOL
These are not kangaroo!!! And those aren't mosquitoes. They are butterflies! This painter just had a different view of life! LOL

mozzies...who said anything about them.....not us....just you.....stay off the sauce..... ;D

Can't! I am addicted to Hot Sauce, Picante Sauce, Tabasco Sauce!!!!
Also, background informaton. The deer, aka referred to as Lu, in Chinese art, is a symbol of longevity.

Holey Moley! What do our guests think! OK. They are not roos, they are deer that are acting like kangaroos. Just like Wullie is acting like the only sauce he is on is hot sauce! I am not acting. I just had my new favorite. Pineapple, pomegranate soda and rum. Hah! I need a name for this concoction. I think I will call it the Wullie Bully. Lets not be L7, come and learn to dance!

Maybe its rutting season !! :D
Back to the bowls !! Without some markings or it being a design we are familiar with,, we are at a loss !! I do not think its Chinese only vaguely looks like it !! The foot shows a bit of age but no more than would be expected of possibly mid century or later !! These are most likely an import, mass produced since no mark of any kind !! Or at least that's my opinion !!
