Title: ID Morris "type" Chairs
Post by: Walkerswoodcrafting on July 15, 2013, 06:45:58 PM
Hi everybody! Found these yesterday on a pic, thought they were kinda cool. But Id like to find out anything I can about them before I decide how to proceed. I call them Morris "Type" because they do not recline. One is a springed rocker, the other is a standard chair. You can see in the pics they have alot of the common Morris shape, along with the separate and removable seat and back cushions. They were spray painted at some point, and the seat support replaced with plywood, but they are solid oak, has shallow flat headed screws under the button caps. The cushions were originally brown, but someone dyed them red. There are no ID marks anywhere that I can find. Anybody got anything on these?

I tried to look at your pics but the site kept freezing my computer, From what saw they appear to be 1970s Spanish Revival furniture that went along with shag rugs, crushed velvet drapes and fake armor on the wall. I am sorry, please do not take offense but that is the era of my first life and I remember it well. although I don't want to.

No offense taken! There still pretty cool in my opinion. If thats indeed all they are Ill just repaint them, distress them, and wax them and be done with it! Any info is better than none!

Yes, Frogpatch we both remember that time !!   That is correct !!  But,, it is good sturdy furniture and will take a lot of abuse !!  And as I remember,, they were very comfortable  !!

I would not know. I used to lay on the shag carpet back then and watch All in the Family.

Can you believe that shag rug/carpet is making a comeback ??  Although a bit shorter !! If you dropped something in that shag you never found it !!
