Hi all,
Was wondering if anybody knew any information on this plate. I've been searching the web with no success. The markings on the back are to distorted to read so I am clueless.
Thanks

Your piece is called a portrait plate , her name is unknown, I can tell you it is a portrait decal and was used on wares by Nippon. Is your plate Nippon I doubt it the boarder is not painted elaborately enough. I would search portrait plates on ebay and such but look for the same plate shape & decoration painted (on the edge) and you will probably find the company. One German firm C.S. Pocher, circa 1900- 1915 made these decals and sold to many factories for them to use on their wares. Here is a small photo of a Nippon plate with your portrait decal from Nippon Porcelain 6th series.

Wow, that is awesome.Thank You very much.

Well I am still having no luck. I've tried ebay, etsy, and pintrest as well as many other searches for Portrait plates and have found none with the same design or pattern.
Maybe this will help.If you look at the marking picture between the center mark and the lower (which is the number 8) there is a signature in green ink.I cannot make out what it reads. Also on the back picture the mark above the center mark looks to be a mark too.
Does anyone know of plates like this that have been signed by the painter?
Thanks

maybe ..you,ve got the last one on the planet....hence the reason you can,t find it.... :D

Ok caster you have totally lost me :) but Nothing on your plate has been hand painted, so not really sure what painter you would expect to have signed it?? It is a decal (sticker type of application). You could search for years and never discover who made your Plate The plate shape/ raised pattern on the edge will be your best link. Since the female image was used by many different manufacturers all over the world. Value of this piece is about $20.00

Wendy, is there a mark that you might remember that uses a wall/bastion/turret with a flag flying from it. I did a quick detail enhancement and it appears to have a thin, flying flag or pennant. Seems familiar......but with my memory > :P

HMM Sapph The only thin, flying flag or pennants I can think of are from Harrop & Burgess England/ Burford Bors. P.C.O. East Liverpool OH / H. Schmidt Porcelain Factory, Germany but that one has double crossed pennants. These all have no walls/bastions or turrets just Pennants. ???

Wendy, I thought perhaps the gold paint that is around the photo may have been hand painted. I'm not sure but it does look like there is a signature on it.

Your plate was made by Owen Minerva Pottery. This plate has the exact rim design. :) Even if the gold paint was hand done most factories had workers place tick marks or tiny symbols to identify each worker to be paid by piece work they would not have signed the piece.

Wendy. Thank You very much for all your help.I'll bet the #8 on it is for whoever did the trim. :)
