Title: Is this a Coaster, Trivet, Art or??

This is a recent purchase of what I think may be a coaster, trivet, art or something else of what I am not sure? It's made of non-magnetic silver colored metal, weighs about 10.6 Ounces and is about 6 3/4 Inches Wide with no maker marks on it.

I put two silver finger bowls I purchased this past week on it to demonstrate how it could be used as a coaster or trivet. I think the finger bowls are sterling but the bottoms have too much wear to see any maker marks.

Does anyone know what this art looking item is and anything about it?

Looks like two crazy eyes and a nose!  Ha!

I believe it is a serving trivet such as you are displaying!

Wouldn't be a coaster to stop the drip of condensation off of bowl, etc.  The water would go straight through to the surface you are trying to protect!

mart, yes, I looked real close with a loop. It is an odd piece (just the type of things I like :) ) that's why I thought I would ask.

Although, now that I think about the Trivet theory some more it doesn't make sense since the thicker metal in the center would cause a flat surface placed on it to rock unless it was two smaller items like I've demonstrated.

Could it possibly be some kind of hypnotic device or art? hmmm ???

I was thinking as a trivet for 2 small bowls just like you had!  Could be for dips, sauces, etc.

KC, yes, could be, those two small finger bowls do fit rather nicely on it.

Ahhh...warm cheese dip and hot salsa, and a big bag of nachos. Wait, this thing would have to be twice as big to get me through the evening! :D
