Found this photo in bubble glass. Need help making out the writing. I see the date looks like 1820. And I see NC-- which makes since because I live here. Any help on identifying would be much appreciated-- though it is a long shot.

Here is the actual photo. A reverse image search turned up nothing.

What is written there is more likely the town name, NC !! Farther to the left I could see initials W.G. but not much more except last three letters that looked like "key" or maybe "ikey" !! Not sure if that's the name though !! Looked like Feb 22, for date !!

The date is 1920. 1820 would be prior to photography. I'm also going by the style of the clothing. Nice image!

To the left of the NC looks like MP,, kind of scribbled though like written in a hurry !! I do the same thing here sometimes,, just put MP for Mount Pleasant !! After all we know where we live !! If you were filling out a form like this,,receipt, sales slip or something and it was local that's a possibility !!
-
It does look like "mp" now that you mention it! Thank you everyone for all your great help!

You might check for a town there that starts with those letters,,or Mt. something !! Out town is Mt Pleasant,, next town is Mt Vernon,, we use the MP and Mt. Vernon uses the MtV !! I have lived in both !!

Odd haircut. He looks like no one I would want to get angry.

That was very common to have that stern look in those days. It showed pride. I have a picture from my husbands grandfather and everyone always comments on what a scary picture. I said to my husbands mother and she said he was a good man. It's how they took pictures in those days.
