Title: help identifying maker japan 1940's ??? DISNEY MICKEY & MINNIE
Post by: Ma on August 18, 2013, 09:08:22 PM: I need help identifying a Mickey Mouse & Minnie Mouse nursery plate.I think by the pic of the characters it may be 1940's. I can not find any info of this mark.I presume occupied Japan as it look to be a Prince of Wales feather & crown but I could be wrong. it has light crazing. How much it is worth? But my main concern is the maker?Huh?
Once I get used to finding my way around here I think you may see lots of me..lol Grin
I hope the pics are ok.

Post by: Ma on August 18, 2013, 11:08:05 PM: Thanks for the help though.I guess I have tried many places.Replacement was one.Disney Memorabilia forum was another.( I didn't get a reply from either)I have been on this case for a month or more.I leave it a bit as sitting at the computer for hours on end does my head in!!!!
Any other suggestions?

Post by: KC on August 19, 2013, 11:40:04 AM: My first reaction when I saw your plate the other day was that it isn't a Disney authorized production. I do believe from the beginning that Disney had their certification with items.

There were soooo many reproductions made by companies wanting to get in on the band wagon and $$$.

They first started producing plates in the 1930's. You really need to find a Disney Collector's book of values.

Post by: Ma on August 19, 2013, 05:01:39 PM: I have been researching for about a month now. I was told Disney lustreware but don't know the maker.I didn't want to lead anyone that way incase it wasn"t. So the mystery still remains.
I love researching but it is frustrating when you can't find the answer.So I leave for a while and start again.Any disney experts on here?

I don't have any pictures of it right now, but I'm going to be selling a Chinese silk portrait of Mickey...in bell bottoms. Not quite correct.

the word trademark is still niggling at me. I hope I'm on the right track

But, the search is still on.....
