No markings on this bowl but its the pattern I'm curious about. Is it cranes or storks? Do they have some significance? I like this bowl despite the small chip to the rim. So I'm not too concerned with the value. But I would be interested to know if anyone has seen anything like it before?

Storks, herons, cranes or something else?
-
I would say Cranes.
Have you looked very closely on the base to see if there is even a faint impress? Sometimes they can be very difficult to see.
What size is it?
-
Thanks Mario,
It is sort of fruit bowl sized :) Not got it with me right now but I will measure it when I'm home. I will have another look for a mark while I'm at it.

Looks more like Arita style from Japan.

I was bound to pick the wrong one! I ummed and ahhed for ages before I wrote a title ;D
I will go look that up. Thanks Ipcress

Ipcress could be right, there are a couple of 'similar' Arita Imari bowls to be found if you Google, but 'similar' is virtually meaningless in this game.
Two similar bowls sitting on a shelf, one worth $5, the other worth $500,000 .... that what makes it so frustrating ... and exciting!

Well it's difficult from a pic ( especially when using a flash ) and i can see a surface crack but i think it's not particularly old. The shape and exterior decoration gives me the impression of something that could have been produced anywhere in South East Asia with the intention of looking like Arita without it necessarily being from the region.
You look at these and the difference in quality is obvious
