Hi guys, I have a bayonet here. I have no idea what war it came from or origin of country. Could you possibly help me out? Thank you. :)

What's the mark on the ricasso - that's the flat part of the blade before the hilt / grip ?
I think it's a Mauser

There usually is one.

I'm positive its an Yugoslavian M1924 Mauser long bayonet.
-
Yeah, they look like the Czech M98's
-
I would agree with Ipcress, and padanova... it would most likely be for a Czechoslovakian Mauser. Probably made for export.
Compare the dimensions with the VZ-23/24 models here.

Had to give Padanova his first karma point for being on top of that one !!

Except that's its slightly different, probably Czech, but what's a karma point between friends ?! ;D
-
Yes, it might be so...I'm Croatian and I've seen lots of these kinds here. Yugoslavians copied Czechs with the same bayonet for Model 24 rifles...ricasso marking would clear any doubt.
Thanks for the karma point Mart. Question: How does one give karma point??

There are also Persian bayonets which looks similar, all having a different ' pommel ' to the German one -the German is parallel to the hilt guard whilst the Czech / Yugo and Persian variants are at an angle.
The German's also had more variations with their " saw back " and others.
This pic of a Polish bayonet shows the sloping pommel

This is the German hilt

And yet another one to compare it to:

"Sword bayonet for use on the 7 mm. Saive Automatique, Fabrique Nationale (SAFN) Modèle 1949 self-loading rifle produced by FN for Venezuela in 1950. Approximately 8,000 SAFN rifles were made for Venezuela.
...The Venezuela M1924/49 bayonet is historically significant as the last sword bayonet adopted by a major army."

Slimmer though, with a grease hole like the German one.
The Italian Carcano looks similar but has a full cross guard with quillon

Karma points are just a sort of "thank you" for a good answer !! Look on the left under your ID !! Sounded like our other experts agreed with you !!
-
Venezuelan FN1924/49 bayonets have a bigger muzzle ring hole and also have a small radius on the front edge thats not found on the Mauser bayonets.
