Hello. Could anyone help me. I bought a small pottery/porcelain ornament in the shape of a book, called The parlour songbook with leaves and a lady on the front. Is this an antique?
Thank you.
Ruth.

Hi,
Could you take a pic of any backstamp?
-
Hi, there is no stamp, just blank on the back.
-
There is a small hole, that is all.
-
Is the hole on the back ?? This looks like a wall pocket !! Can we see the back and the bottom if anything is stamped on it !!
-
There may be an impress, rather than a coloured stamp, which may be difficult to see.
-
Hi, there is a small impress, looks like a number 7. Wall pocket, interesting, thank you.
-
mmmm ... 7 doesn't tell us very much. Perhaps someone might recognise the piece/style. What size is it? You initially said small, but big enough to be a wall pocket?
-
This looks to be a more modern reproduction to me !! No age showing on the front !!
-
umm it is tiny really. About 1 and a half inches by an inch big. Maybe it was made for a dolls house.

That is SMALL ! Not really big enough for a wall pocket, and could explain why mart can't see any wear ... it's ornamental and not useable. Probably spent its life in a china cabinet .... (although it could still be modern ??? )
-
Ah yes! It feels kind of old, rather sweet in a way. I think it was treasured by someone nice.
Thank you for your help!!! :)

Wow !! That is tiny !! Always helps to know the size of these things !! It is possible that it is for a doll house !! Many of these old doll houses are exact in their furniture and décor items !! Many are replica`s of Victorian homes and they pay attention to detail !!
-
I think you are right Mart! Really interesting to know these things, as I am no expert. Thank you.
-
Agree it looks like items associated with Victorian period reproduction doll houses!
-
Does it have any weight? It could have been used to hold the page open while someone was playing.
