Title: antique ? red handled spoon

whats anyone's thoughts on this spoon, approx age and what is the spoon part made of?  Its so heavy what would its purpose have been?

Looks like 30`s or 40`s cast aluminum !! Is it cereal spoon size or larger pot stirring size ?? I would think larger !! My grandmother used cast aluminum cookware !! I still have a saucepan !! This could have been a freebie when you bought the set !!

and you would be right it is the larger size and pretty darn heavy-cool to the touch 

aluminum sounds right

it has had a very hard life for sure

mine must have been used in Alaska judging from the split in the back!
