Another one of my one dollar yard sale finds. I thought at first it might be a car vase but it is too cheaply made of brass plated steel. It is about 12 inches long and is very old. I don't see any sign of it fitting in a ring to be hung on a wall. There would have been a mark at that point you would think. It does not look like it ever had water in it. My wife will probably use it as a little cornucopia for fall.

Are there holes to hang it? It looke like you put dried flowers in it. Then hang it.

Maybe it was originally a "candy container". ::) ::)

Tussy Mussy (tussie mussie) bouquet holder. Some beautiful antique ones on ebay. You can still buy them, but if you're looking for silver it'll cost you more than all your bouquets put together ;)
Edited* Did you say 12" long? There were some made that fit into a holder meant to stand on a table top to hold flower arrangements.
-
Along the edge of the one Frogpatch has it looks like something is missing from along the top !! If it was smaller I would say it was for forming twill cookies !! Buy its too big for that !!
-
Tussie Mussies/Tussy Mussies were worn on clothing/coats/fingers/belts and today are just held in weddings. This one is way too big for that unless someone is wanting to make a BIG statement! The large one today is 7".
I have seen this size come with stands as well. The Victorian holder resembled a "bed spring" and in fact today, those old bed springs are being taken apart and the individual springs are being used to hold the cone shaped items!

Well we sure have a lot of opinions here and I thank all of you. To answer a couple questions or concerns:
There is no hole for hanging it.
The back of it looks just like the front but the design pattern is a little different.
The top edge in finished all of the way around and there is nothing missing.
I thing the idea of the table spring may be what the answer is. That would account for the fact that there is no ring mark on it.
I will send a picture along when my wife finds a use for it. She may use it as a horn of not so much because it is too small for a horn of plenty
