Yes , it winds in the back. Im just wondering what to clean the pieces with.I was told to sand blast them, but not too sure about that.

Post by: fancypants on September 29, 2013, 02:00:48 PM: Looks like a 1970's 'whimsy' music box to me , with an imported feel (esp the 'music box') .

If it's easy to remove , I'd suggest taking out the music box & then giving the whole little item a good scrubbing with kerosene & a toothbrush , a soap & water wash afterwards & then a coat or two of furniture wax .... that should clean it up enough for a buyer (dirty & cheap too) .

You could also finish it with lamp-black or paint if ya wanted to too , instead of wax .
