Title: Door Knocker - brass or bronze?

How old do you think it is?  It's 4.5in long

from around 1890..to 1920,s....acccording to this one thats on ebay...

Looking at the back part,, that slot looks like it would fit over a large nail head,,like a roofing nail !! If so it would still work by knocking on the wood rather than a brass plate !! That part is hinged isn`t it ??
