Title: Can anyone tell me the value of F.C. Herbst Paintings
Post by: genesisvh on October 09, 2013, 06:18:25 PM
I have a small collection of this artist's paintings. Would anyone know the value of these paintings and where is the best place to sell them? Or any history of this artist? I have many paintings too. Would anyone be interested in viewing them? I believe I have a little ove 100 paintings.

You'd have to question that date on the reverse of the canvas if you believed some websites.
Frank C Herbst. 1912 - 1970.

However, further research shows he was actually 1890-1966.  A member of the Society of Illustrators and a teacher from 1947 to 1952 at the Rhode Island School of Design, Frank Herbst was born in Cairo, Illinois and lived in Newark, New Jersey. He received a B.F.A. from the Art Institute of Chicago, and his work is at the Marine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.* He is considered not only a fine illustrator but also a fine landscape and figure painter as well. He is listed in the book “New Hope for American Art” by James Alterman, an authoritative book on the New Hope Art Colony.

Selling for mid hundreds to low thousands.

Would love to see any more paintings you have !
