Whilst browsing i came upon this Pedastal table...and have to admit...Its right up my street...it measures approx 65in across..x 31in high...x 5in thick...its spalted Elm...any thoughts on what you think its priced at....would be welcome....
-
do you mean literally right up your street or are you meaning right up your alley? wild guess 400

Alley to you, and street to me...this is my kind of thing...No specialist knowledge needed when it comes to making it....i,ve already made two side tables and a large Dining table...& 4 chairs...see pic from my project...total cost of this table & chairs is under £300....value now...well, i,ve had an offer of £1500....

you do great work--is this your occupation?

I served my time as a joiner/carpenter...but did many other jobs, as well...I was what was known as a Jack of all trades...it was only after i retired through ill health in 2008...that i found the time to do this, and..now that i,ve completed this table/chairs, i,ve been inundated with...requests...f rom many people who have seen this....
that pic of the single table, with your guesstimate of 400...made me laugh.....i found this on ebay...for sale in the US....here it is here...."dont fall off yer seat".. ;D...Realistically.. ..i could make this for less than...$300....the wood,i can get from my local sawmill....and the rest is just time....i don,t know where they get that price from.....

That,was my thoughts...maybe i should email them...and ask if they want some made...I could do as good a job at a fraction of the price...When I bought that Elm to make my table,...I got 2 slabs measuring 6ft x 3ft x 4in 2 x 5ft x 12in x 4in..and a couple of smaller pieces for £140 ..or $220 approx..

I'm always amazed as to the following that George Nakashima's work has.
Here's a 1969 era coffee table that sold at auction a year ago for $90,000.

And a 1970 side table for $12,500.
