Just another find in my packed house . Looks to me a tribal cane but from where en it's even with a mark EW . So tribal cane and from where and when ? Size in length over 20 inches .

this is only part of something bigger...its probably been the top of a staff...as to the mark....i think you can discount this....its more than likely the initials of its previous owner...as to original origin...might be .from one of Nederlands..former colony,s......

Could be but difficult to find a similar way off decorating on the net if you look for Indonesian or New Guinea art or tribal art I can't find it. To me it would more like Hawaiian style or close to there maybe ?

Unless I'm way more off-kilter than ususal , this appears to be a wall-hangy/decorative wooden depiction of a war ax/adz ... kinda interesting that the maker simulated metal-banding in the carved surface .
I'ma thinkin' along the lines of head-hunters & such .
Looks like both carving tools & files were used to make this little guy !
Another thought would be a repro of a tool for peeling & cracking coconuts , since it's got all the features for that too ....

Difficult item then i think . Could always scare the taxman away with it then ? ;D
-
yeah the Taxman....19 to him and 1 to you.... ;D

Doesn't look Hawaiian to me!

...check out this link...of Papua New Guinea spears...they are very similar to the style of this one,...

Seen the page and looks plausible to me that it would be from there . Thanks
