Title: McCulloch Chainsaw
Post by: johnjlanejr on November 01, 2013, 08:59:22 AM
The only number on thus thing is 17900 AA. I googled that along with chainsaws and had no success. I'd like to know whatever I can about this thing and maybe get it running again. Thanks in advance.

We have some mechanically inclined people here but you may likely find more help at Smokstack.com !! They have a specific forum for small, older air cooled engines !! I am a member there and they have always been helpful !!

I would guess that it's in the Model 35 series era from the 1950's.

To get it running is more or less the same basic process of getting any old engine running.

-Inspect as many parts as possible for damage
-Test as many parts as possible
-Replace or rebuild parts as needed
-Pull your hair out by the roots when none of the parts you need are available anymore

Oh I don`t know about that Wullie !! Those older McCulloch`s are much better than the ones you buy now !! My Dad & I cut wood for years with one !! Dad always got too much oil in the mix and it smoked like a freight train but it never failed to start and cut !!
