Items like this are VERY collectible. Antique/vintage medical are big among collectors, physicians, etc.
I have a whole reference on medical items and am looking it up....
I have in my files that he made equipment for urology (removal of stones/tumors). "is defined by the construction of post-revolutionary direct endoscopes of Joseph Grünfeld (manufactured by H. Reiner) and the onset of indirect endoscopy following the invention of Nitze-Leiter instruments." http://eauvienna2011.org/about-vienna/vienna-in-the-history-of-urology/ (http://eauvienna2011.org/about-vienna/vienna-in-the-history-of-urology/)
I have in my files that he dealt with ears... See cochlea models on this site

He is noted as having medical equipment on display in the Medical Section of the Melbourne International Exhibition of 1880.

hi KC thanks for ur answer.
from the picture can u see if the item is complete?
and how should it work?
thanks.

I don`t see anything about this that would make me think it was for an amputation !!
-
If you look at it..as if it were a gun,and hold it in your hand, with your fingers through the loop and the strait piece in your palm then squeeze...the long piece that looks like a barrel..has i think a pair of little jaws that open...this will be used for amputating...a small something with the body..as opposed to an external amputation

KC thank for the great info.
and mart i took the Description from the action house Description.
bigwull thank you also i think i get how it should work.
i must say things like this item is a bit creepy. :o
i think the most i will pay would be 50$.
is too much or too less ?
thanks.

Wullie advised well on how it should be held!!
My motto, go as low as possible and set a limit! I wouldn't go over $50...but see what the bids are like...and maybe not got that high!

Put your little finger thru that slotted hole and then squeeze the handle and you will see how it works. ;D ;D ;D ;D
It would work great for "trimming" the claws or toenails of cats and dogs, etc.

btw.
i have 1 more item in the same action
