Post by: icedgold10 on November 10, 2013, 05:07:42 PM
Oh, yes I can the part I don't believe is I took it home.  I am of course talking about the bunny not my daughter.  I made her myself.  Don't think it is an antique either.  lol   ;D

Bigwull, don't forget about that old American story "Revenge of the Giant Rabbits" when you talk about stew. ;D

Why old wood?  He is indoors in a cage.  He has hay, food and a blanket.

Then I,m afraid you,d be much better off with a cuddly toy rabbit, that has 2 x PP9,s stuck up its bum,...no mess, no food, and you can switch it off when the novelty wears off... ;D

Oh,but i,ve seen many a Giant Rabbit...during my partaking of M.A.D days...then much later along come ..the movie, Wallace & Gromit,s..Revenge of the Were-Rabbit.....but if you really want a real live giant ..then instead of that cuddly toy ,...get yerself one of these...gauranteed to frighten the shit out of the neighbours cat,and maybe dog too...

My rabbit is not a novelty that will wear off.  I have had 2 dogs that lived till 18 years old, a cat that lived till 21 years old.  I grew up having a rabbit and several monkeys.  They are family members that stay with me till they pass.  I have fostered many  dogs as well.  My pets are well cared for.  The work involved comes with the territory.

I have friends who have rabbits as pets. They live inside the house, are litter box trained and are wonderful little additions to their families!! The only thing is they chew ANY wire they can find so be careful!!  :D

Monkeys..Mmm...you,re not one of those people that dress their pet monkeys as if they were children..I saw a programme recently about American woman..who do that...personally.. i felt they were degrading the poor animal...Monkeys are social animals and need to be in groups..not,kept as pets,

Because the have to chew to keep their teeth worn down !! Othewise they will not be able to eat properly,,and they need a salt block !! I raised commercial meat rabbits !!

Wires are a no, no for sure.  I'm getting him something to keep him happy and chewing.  As for the monkeys , I was a kid and my mom got them before they were illegal to have here.  I agree they belong free in the wild where they are most happy!  I thought they were my siblings until I figured out my brother was the one with less hair.  Our first monkey as you can see in the picture had a bad smoking habit so he had to go to the smoke shop to get more cigs, and the second one was a cuddle bug for sure.

I love all animals. I question some animals as pets, or is it fair to the animal. The animals at zoos I question too! I would rather live a short life and live in the wild than live in a cage in an unnatural environment.  The same for the killer whales living in captivity.

Mart is right. In the wild all rodents chew on something to keep there teeth worn down. Squirrel eats nuts, beavers cut down trees and rabbits chew on the bark of shrubs and trees. In winter it is their entire diet in colder areas. If their teeth get long they wont' be able to eat and will starve to death because they can only open their mouths a certain distance.

and to continue what Kermit was saying...their bottom inscisors...have been known to grow up through their upper jaw...therefore if you are intent on keeping yer bunny in a cage with a blanket...make sure you give him a nice bone... ;D...

Wow, I just learned more about rabbits than I ever knew.  On my grandparent's farm they had everything (true southern farm) including lots of hutches for rabbits.  All I know is that we had a large group of cousins.  I was second to the youngest and they loved cramming me and my youngest cousin into the rabbit pin and locking us in instead of watching us like they were supposed to!  We would be hoarse from yelling.  At first our parents/aunts/uncles didn't believe it but the pressure marks from the wire hutch bottom imprinted on our "south sides" was living proof!  LOL

I have several friends that have them as house pets as well - litter box trained!
