Title: What is this? candlestick? Value?

I found this at a second hand store. What is this? candlestick? Value? THANKS. ::)

The writing is Swedish and basically translates to "Name" and "born". My guess it that this is a baptismal candle holder or another religious ceremony and the vertical boxes would be for the time and date it took place. This one is unused and unengraved.

whilst it could be a candlestick....it could also be a Christening Goblet,....i just don,t see the point of having the date of birth on a stick...unless its a Swedish thing...perhaps the makers mark will be able to tell us

My parents have a single candlestick in this style as well...and the furniture/style they have is from Denmark!

A silver commemorative piece.  Much like here in the US we have plates that can be custom made with dates/events of birth, christening, etc.
