Title: Rooster gravy (or creamer) dish made in Germany
Post by: Snadeau on November 18, 2013, 05:39:04 PM
Anyone recognize this piece? I found one on eBay for sale but I'd like to know the approximate time period it came from. If something is marked "Germany" does that mean before Germany became East/West Germany?

its more likely to be a gravy rooster,...the only time i,ve seen a creamed rooster was when i ran over it in my car....but it was more squashed than creamed.... :D

Here you...are you implying..I tell porkies!!. ;D.I,ll have you know...where we stay...you don,t need a shotgun to kill pheasants...you just go out in the early morning..and drive down a country road and these, dumb pheasants are everywhere, and if i can,t hit a pheasant every other day...then..there,s something wrong with my driving...they are the dumbest birds on the planet,..an estate not 5 miles from where i,m sitting releases 15,000 pheasant poults in July......and come October when the pheasant season starts, they are nice and plump...
my ideal way of cooking them, is..take 2 x nice Hens, skin them..not pluck...then put them in a casserole dish, with button mushrooms, shallots, carrots, season well, then pour over 1pint of dry apple cider...bake in a pre-heated  medium oven for 1hr,...serve with roast taters done in goose fat,and apple/celery/oatmeal stuffing...yum yum,,

Don,t wonder....its all true...its just the way i tell it...i,m old....not as old as you from what i gather...but i,ve been here a while,..sometimes it feels like eons..and at times it does,nt....i can talk the hind legs off a donkey....if only i,d learned to do it quicker...then that donkey i rode would,nt have been able to bite me...i,m a prctical joker,to some, and a pain in the arse to others...mostly Texans..... ;D...but my main aim is to put a smile on someones face...at least once a day...

Meat Wagon..... ;D...now that brings back a memory...only thing is..over here...meat wagons only carried bodies...misbehavin bodies...they were police vans...and i got chucked in one...when i was a lot younger than i am now...and it taught me a valuable lesson..."never get chucked into a meat wagon ..when you,re wearing your best suit.... ;D

How much does it hold?  Size of piece?   Creamers are smaller than gravy boats generally.

So, if it is holds gravy would you call it a Rooster Boat?  LOL

i sometimes wonder about you....A Chicken Creamer!....nobody with an ounce of sense would call this a creamer....chickens don,t produce cream...ok..you might say that the corn that they eat gets crushed into a cream like substance in their gullet....but "Cream"...I ask you.... ;D

Thank you so much for the link. No, the one for sale is not mine but now I'll make sure mine doesn't go to goodwill! I recently bought mine at an estate sale and thought it unusual, made in Germany and looked old. It kind of reminded me of the older Hummel figurines. The made in Germany is what had me curious...your link has helped a lot and is very much appreciated.
