Got this a while back and had different people with different opinions.  I thought it was interesting so had to have it.  What's your thoughts?

No incense burner.  ;D  He was made to carry water.  He is around 12" tall.  He has 2 little holes, one each side to put a carrying string through.  Suppose he could be a nice big coffee cup.  :D ;D

Looks like terra cotta,, most likely Mexico, South America !! Possibly a chocolate pot !!  Is he carrying a hammer ??
No other opening except the holes ??

He is carrying a spear.  Here's the top.  The system isn't letting me add more than 1 pic at a time.

You said there were holes for string ?? Or do they just go into the figure ??  Thought maybe a wire bail rather than string but can`t see the holes !!

The little holes are further down.  You put string through for carrying.  The top is for filling and pouring.

Is there any staining inside?

I believe he looks like he would hold aromatics of some sort!!!! Or.............

Does he have a small hold on the top of his head?  or the top of a foot?

The reason I am asking...does the hole go all the way through the lid or is it an indention (such as to hold a stick match)?

Okay, then stick with it being for a aromatic.

If anyone ever wants to find a new collectible to search for....small...but garners a good value....then look for Victorian "Go To Bed" or now days are even noted as vestas - the figural ones are the most $$$.  Most people do not know what they are and so many have been tossed/destroyed or kept just for the match holder not realizing the total use and value.  Here is one that shows the match being held.  This was used after you blew out all the candles/lanterns and needed light just enough to get to bed and settled in. They were made out of bone, pottery, cast in metals, etc.   So....be on the look out!!!
