I am helping a friend sell his late sister's estate. The stuff has been in storage since 1989 and is mostly new in original boxes. His sister lived in Japan twice and in Turkey. Some of the items are Korean, Japanese besides Chinese. This particular figure is porcelain type of material with nice details such as hair ornament and earrings. She is playing a musical instrument that I believe is a type of zither called a Gugin or Gu Qin.

Mark, stamp or anything on the bottom ?? Pic of it please !!
The figure is 5" high and 4 1/2 " wide across the widest part. Attached is a picture of the bottom--I had a hard time getting a picture of the mark on the bottom.

Can`t make heads or tails of the mark !! Is that a paper sticker ??

Take a picture of the impressed mark outside in broad daylight.
Do you have a macro setting on the camera ?

Believe the instrument could be a koto. Japanese/Chinese/Asian music players were popular in the early 1900's and you can find postcards from that time period that were popular of Japanese women playing the instruments as well. If you search ebay "vintage asian woman playing instrument" you will get lots of examples in porcelain, glassware and postcards/ads.
