Title: Help with identifying Cherokee Artwork
Post by: anniebee on November 24, 2013, 07:55:59 PM
I got this print this weekend from a Cherokee woman and cannot find anything about it. It does not have a signature. On the back it says: Cherokee Vocational Arts; Carolina Mirror Company; an Enterprise of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Thanks for any help with the artist and/or value.

Is there a title/name on the print ?? Perhaps under the mat ??  Most prints like this were for sale as a fund raiser for the schools !! The print would be either one in the public domain or one the artist allowed them license to print and sell !!  If you know the title we can look it up !! Might also look under the mat for artist name !!

The back is sealed with paper and I'm hesitant to open it. From some research I did it looks like Howard Terpening, but after looking through his work I couldn't find this print.

Its rare for an artist to hit a niche market now days !! If they are not varied in subject matter,,they may truly be starving artists soon !!
