LOL!!....you crack me up.....a pie crust.....get away with ya...the proper way..is to put the mix into a wet cloth thats been doused wi flour, bring the corners of the cloth up and tie with string, allowing a little room for expansion....then put it into a big pot of boiling water with an upturned plate on the bottom of the pot, and simmer for 2.1/2 hours,...then take it out, untie the string,...up end the dumpling onto a plate, and put it into a warm oven to dry off.....the result will be a dumpling with a sweat leathery skin....that can be sliced when cold......mine,s rarely reach that stage,.... ;D.

Looks yummy but your description sweat leathery skin....that can be sliced when cold just sounds nasty!! ;) ;)

Sounds good to me!!!! I am enjoying the site!!!
Got a funny one for ya' Wullie. In the 70's I was with in a group of law enforcement personnel that did an exchange program with London police then we went to Scotland for a quick trip. After a night of Scottish joviality (and quite a few of them were over jovial) we all met for a continental breakfast and were given scones for breakfast (round like a biscuit and not wedged like ones we see here). The officer sitting next to me split open his scone and groaned aloud, closed it back up and almost wretched. I asked him what was wrong and he said "someone's gum is in my biscuit"! We laughed so hard we couldn't catch our breath. The pale yellow raisin inside did look like chewed gum to a guy with a mighty big hangover. :)

that,s the joy of eating,a scone,....and for those that don,t know how to pronounce the word or get it confused with the town of Scone....the edible scone....which comes in various varieties...i.e. a tattie scone, a plain scone and a fruit scone...think skon.....as for the town ..think..skoon....a re you confused.... ;D

I have made both !! They are either plain biscuits or sweet biscuits !! Same stuff goes in them !!

they might be biscuits to you ....but they,re scones to us....furthermore.. ..you said you,ve made both, but i mentioned 3 .... cheaters not doing their job again...or is it the eyes behind the cheaters that are suspect... ;D

That tattie scone sounds so doggone filling/heavy...ugh. I would much rather make a potato pancake!!! :)
Make scones all the time. My family's favorite, white chocolate/macadamia/raspberry!!! Yuuuummmmm!!!!

So did you boil or microwave?
-
c,mon...KC..a proper Clootie take a good 2 hours boiling....i made these 2 in 20 mins....from start to finish..using the microwave..but i over did them..a little, the recipe said cook for 9mins,..which i did, but..that was for a 700w micro,...ours is a 1000w.....so they were moist on the outside...but deep down they were too dry....but a good helping of custard helped sort that out....

When I was growing up, I would go ice fishing at times with an old retired railroad man with the first name of Leith. He would always have a bag of frozen "fish cakes" in the ice shack with him, that he would fry on the top of the little heating stove. I remember to this day how good those tasted while staring at a hole in the ice...hoping for a nibble. I have no idea how he made them, or what was in them, other than fish and potatoes.

But that,s what fishcakes are Rauville.....mashed potato,s flaked fish, mixed together, then made into little round cakes, coat them with a beaten egg then cover with breadcrumbs...like these....
