but i am looking for more info.

A picture of yours would be more helpful than one purloined from ebay,....and..this is another classic case of withholding info....for .had you given the correct info...then Dogaman..would,nt have wasted her time finding the one she did,..or did,nt find.......is yours the same?...or not, and furthermore its a Toad...frogs don,t have bumps on their back.....
-
well first i think u should change ur attitude. "purloined " Are you serious ????
and yes mine is the same, why do you think i will post picture with different item?
i can't post my item cuz i am not at home.
hope i clear my point.
thanks.

Ok Then.....you "borrowed it"....but had Dogaman not found that link...you would have had us believe that the pics were yours.....or am i Croaking in the wrong pond... ;D

Doesn't look 19th century to me.
Much more recent.

Comparing both sites: Ebay and Ancient Point, the pictures seem to suggest that the figure was originally done with a thin metal skirt, which was then shaped over a wooden block. Look at the pics of the bottoms. You can see where the thin metal is folded over...the rough edge is noticeable.
Arts, when you "thump" the frog, does it sound hollow?
Just sharing my observations.
-
well im not at home but when i cheked it i can say is all solid.
:)

hi. are u think is a chinese item?
if so what the this kind of frog symbolizes in theChinese culture
thanks
-
just to clarify....
http://allaboutfrogs.org/weird/general/frogtoad.html
-
Hmmmm....wondering if this is a Russian item...just because the information was uploaded by "Thefilm.siberia".
The only frog I am aware of in Chinese culture is the tree frog spirit Ch'ing-Wa Sheng which doesn't look like a toad.
There is a toad in the moon in Chinese culture...but it only has 3 legs - and is associated with longevity, immortality and UGLY (because when you are one with nature it doesn't matter).
n Japanese culture a Toad usually accompanies a Ninja, to help with longevity!
-
No Longevity with these monsters....Cane Toads....

Believe yours is a variation of the Wealth Toad
