Give us some background info !! Where you are located, where found ect !! First impression is a store sign for a business/product and this is only a part of the logo !!

we have 3 identical signs, they were purchased at an estate sale several years ago by my father-in-law in Georgia, USA.  We recently acquired one of the signs and have been told anything from  older Colonial Sanders chicken logo to chicken feed advertisement.  Possibly a local business that no longer exists??

Is this the complete sign?  Looks like a part of a sign.

This is Porcelain based enamel on Metal...which would date it from the late 1800,s onwards...

A full view picture of the sign and its dimensions would be helpful.

And a picture of the backside ........ is it a 2-faced sign.

We have researched this sign under KFC and Colonel Sanders without any luck finding, we have also searched endlessly through images with not matching results.  Thank you for the information about the help on dating information.   The Dimensions are 4ft tall by 8ft long and is single sided.

Since  there is nothing to identify it other than a symbol chances are it is not part of a trademarked logo !! With three identical signs could mean three locations or a sign maker screwed up three times,,or someone ordered a sign and didn`t figure the space correctly and decided this part could go !!  Non of which we know !!  What I would suggest is to start with the Historical Society in the town you bought them,,go through old town photos and see if there is a match,,ask the older generation that has lived there all their lives !! You might find someone who remembers it !!

Here is a “right side” up picture in which it appears to be a company “logo” with the “red” figure at the bottom holding a shaft or pole with a “red” sail or flag at the top ….. and the letter “S” and a gigantic ‘ apostrophe.

Appears something went wrong in the enameling process and thee signs were rejected. A 4' X 8' porcelain sign with nothing more than that on it seems strange.

I was so blind ...... but now I see .......  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Cogar;
You've got it upside down. Turn it around, and you'll see a "Red rooster with a white eye, and the stylized letters CS forming the body". I'm still guessing that the CS stood for "Chicken Shack", and these signs formed a marquee for such.

Mart, I even turned my computer upside down....but it had already been turned right side up.

Look at the red above the white...that is the Rooster head and the little white dot is the eye.

This could be for a poultry store, a market, an alarm clock company, etc.....
