Hi all, I have a armoire that I've been unsuccessful finding any information on. Hoping there's someone that can provide help. The tag inside says:
"George Rolph Ltd
--House Furnishers--
Hemel Hempstead
Founded 1837 Boxmoor 70"
I am in the US, but purchased it from a Brit who had shipped it over. I was told it was late 1890's to early 1900's, but to be honest I have no firm knowledge.
Any information or help is greatly appreciated!

George Rolph..would have been the retailers...not the makers,..this is what we here in the UK call a single Wardrobe, most likely made of oak,..it does,nt have the look of one made in the late 1800,s, it looks more like 1920,s/30s,...if the value of this Rolph piece is anything to go by..then..I hope you,re sitting down...

Hasn`t been long since we had a similar "House Furnishers" label but with a different name I think !! I assumed a retailer as well but have since decided that perhaps these gentlemen were the equivalent to our interior decorators !! Neither has/had a brick and mortar store and the label doesn`t read like a retailer !! I think these people were simply hired to decorate a house or apt. !! They handled the purchase and installation of what was needed by the owner !! They had nothing to do with the mfr or retail sales !!
