I got this at Goodwill today. Yes, I'm a regular. lol Trying to figure out the writing and who the artist is. May not be a listed artist but very talented. Any time period information would be helpful as well, it is a solid oak frame.
-
maybe if the pic opened we,d be able to see the signature....10 mins...to go..
-
Opens for me in a second. Need to get those bunnies running. lol
-
nope..not for me....as for the bunnies....well see Mart...she knows all about bunnies....or is it boonies.... ;D
-
First word is "with" last line is "#6 brown" do not think this is part of signature looks more like framing instructions but couldn`t make out other words !!
-
Is it out of the frame ??
-
I took it out for the picture.
-
"with Glasr (?)" "Glasr" is glass in Icelandic. Might be the subject's last name. Could also be "Glasi", but couldn't find a translation for that.
Third line looks like "Free eh Glasr".
-
That might have meant "with glass" Charcoal artworks are always behind glass,,same as pastels !!
-
Mart,
"with glass" would make sense if these were instructions for the framer. "free eh glasr" might mean "free glass" or "do not charge for glass". only a guess.
-
Well, I will take your word for it !! I sure don`t read Icelandic !! Hope that's the correct word ?? Anyway we know then it isn`t a signature but are framing notes !!
-
Mart,
It's called Google Translator! LOL
-
Does anyone have a guess on the age or if the clothing is maybe from Iceland or American?
-
Don`t know about Iceland,, but the narrow lapels and double breasted coat would say mid to late 20`s,, looks like a bowler hat and would go along with that time period !!
