Title: buddah head carved I believe from Rhinoceros Horn
Post by: kdcale on December 31, 2013, 09:08:45 PM
Could someone help me identify this piece I found that appears possibly to be a Chinese Buddha head made from Rhinoceros Horn mounted into a carved piece of wood.

Thanks,
Kay

Hi, Kay:

I found this, which is remotely similar:

And these:

However, when compared, the carvings are different. Especially the head dresses.

Thanks and it sure looks similar to me too.  I am thinking it is possibly buffalo horn instead of the rhinoceros.

Much appreciated!
