What is it ?
Looks like someone has gilded it with a catapult.
-
Yes we need a description of what it is,,wall plaque, tile ect !! Also a pic of the back !!
-
And what that signature on the bottom right hand side says....
-
Looks like an abbreviated name. H Chapr.
However i can't see it being valuable the condition it's in, whatever it is.
-
Looks like spray paint !! Some runs at bottom !!

Looks simple enough to me: You've got the Lady with a cookbook on her lap, a horse behind her, and what I'm sure is a waffle iron laying at her feet.
It can only mean one thing; Someone is going to be enjoying breakfast in bed, with a course of waffles and a side of Kazy. ;) :D
Disclaimer: OK, OK, I just made this all up. ::)
-
I don`t believe I have ever cooked breakfast like that,,,,,well maybe,,,,but not in the winter !! ;D

Good way to get splatter burns! :)
Waelkd, can you please describe what the underlying material of the plaque/tile is? Your picture is so large that it is hard to tell what it is. It appears as resin but it could honestly be stone/marble.
Can you please post another picture of the entire piece (Front and back sides) and give the dimensions?
-
I can't get the last letters in the artist's name. Chap?
-
It looks like "Chapry". But every first initial I pair with it, I can't get a hit.
-
http://www.arcadja.com/auctions/en/charpy/artist/364582/ Adrien Chapry. Frenchman, not sure if this is the artist. It's a different medium.
-
??? This person was also a conductor. I question if it's him.

H. Chapu

This is close to yours. Shown is "Allegory of Truth". But looking at your pic and that shown at the sites, I think it is just your camera angle that threw me off.

Well done you...Muttley....yo u get a cookie...
-
as this is made of marble, it should be quite easy to remove the paint,..the paint medium will be one of two types, it,ll either be acrylic..or cellulose...acrylic is easier to remove, you can use a water washable paint remover,...if you are unsure, you could contact a stonemason who specializes in making headstones, and they will be able to tell you,
-
Thanks, Wull. BTW, what or who is "Muttley"? I remember Mutt and Jeff! ;)

Well,!!..i ve taken the liberty of abbreviating your username,..i could have said..well done Dog....but...seeing as how i got myself into a lot of bother with my last foray into using words that have more than one meaning..i thought...Mutley was better...see link to Mutley...then you can maybe use him as your avatar.. ;D

Wull,
Okay, I follow you! But actually, Do-ga-man was a name I used eons ago on the internet. And I used "Mynx" on MIRC; if you remember when that was big back in the '90's.

Ipcress,
What I meant in my post was that I found the artist and possibly something close to his piece. If it were me in his shoes, I would have it authenticated and, if real, then have it professionally cleaned.
I am not, nor do not, profess to be smart in all this. I, too, am learning. I just enjoy playing Sherlock Holmes.
Sorry if my post created the wrong impression.

Since this is looks like a wall plaque instead of a statue I think you can mark off $28,000. !!

MIRC...you,ve lost me....as for minx...well that conjures up many different meanings on this side of the pond...e.g....she,s a minx..steer clear.of her... ;D....or ...there,s Super Minx....that was the name of a car...

Not at all ! Just that i've seen threads where people focus on and subsequently spend hours researching certain details without informing the original poster of their opinion of the item in general.
It's based on something in the Met Museum but is a copy and i'm not sure it could even be described as an ' after ' casting.

oh!!, we are singing a different tune now..are,nt we, was,nt that when you..had a go at me last month...when it had nothing to do with you.....but...you,re right..i,ll give it a rest......... for now...

No, it was earlier.
But i only responded last time to you abusing another forum member by private message. I wasn't the only one and you can hardly expect people to just accept that without an explanation. You apologised, which is fair enough.
What type of forum member complains when someone has a smite removed when it was possibly given by mistake ?! The type that gave it in the first place.
If there was an ignore function i'd use it.
