Does that say "Italy"?
-
I would say that is does & that is Mottled glase.
-
Is it just written on top of the glaze ??
-
I've been told it is Italian Majolica and it isn't Italian Majolica.
It appears to be under the glaze and does not scratch or rub off.
The color is actually more blue than black as portrayed in those pictures.
The cork appears to be hand carved and asymetric.
The writing could say anything from italy to tay its hard to make out. Thats why I'm reaching out at this point.

It's looks like a form of splatterware. I have many bottle books I'll check and see if there is anything related.
-
Mottled glaze possibly.

Ooops Dewain I see I agree with you. ;D

Check at import stores !!
-
huh?
-
You find similar things at import stores !!
-
Thank you, but I'm still confused how that helps identify it in anyway? There bust be thousands of stores and I wouldn't even know where to begin.
You don't by chance recognize the signature do you?

There is the www.antiquebottle, net . If that helps.
