Title: Can someone please identify this crown mark underneath my teapot?
Post by: Jellytip on February 05, 2014, 01:31:42 PM
I've been looking online for years off and on, haven't been able to find it. I'm sure there is someone who will know it instantly.

(Am on an ipad and can't work out how to directly upload the photo, but the link is fine to follow.)

Hi!  Welcome to the forum.

Can you please post a picture of the whole pot as well?  Any background information as to where you got it and where you are located!

I'm thinking its come from one of my grandmothers, which doesn't tell me much as they collected things from all around the world. I'm in New Zealand but it could have come from anywhere. Hope those photos are good! :)

That is a very unusual piece and also attractive. Unfortunately I would be guessing to say it is English from the mid 20th century. It reminds me of Clarice Cliffe but not really.

It appears to be be a Moorcroft copy. Below is an image of the real thing, but they are always well marked and haven't used this crown. In fact, i've never seen this crown used on it's own without any text or impressed marks.
