Title: Very old photograph from New Hampshire

This photo was taken by a photographer in NH.  I thought it was a church at first but the pictures on the wall don't make sense.  Can someone give me a time period and what they might be doing?

If you scan that photo at 600 dpi then we can see it better when enlarged.

Anyway, it looks like a chorus putting on a "songfest" because all the people on stage and left n' right of ...... are holding sheet music and there is a Conductor atanding center stage.
